You mean like that field in our forum profile for our IGN? Though I don't know the exact criteria they had for this, if it was just in-game stuff a la the Scribe shout-out section, community support through the forums, actually doing stuff for ANet (alpha testing, etc), a mix of all three, or what.

Both are relatively obscure posters. I noticed the same with the people who posted they they had the card on GWO.

Coincidence? I think not.

Oh it's an actual card. I thought it was just an email. Anet don't have my address, so that rules me out. :s

I still want to know what makes you get one, not some cryptic reply about a frog.

Could be people who sent in artwork for weapons, capes, event items etc, seeing as they supplied their address, it would be easy to thanks them with a card, instead of randomly selecting players and asking them for the address.

I'd check The Scribe for character names that have done good deeds and go from there.

Beta Testers? (IF you give them your address, I dunno?)
First people to buy GW online?
People that just give them their address, like in the Design A Weapon comps. and stuff?

Just some ideas. :P

So 1000 people are more important then the 3 million people who have purchased Guild Wars so far.

Why didn't they just send everyone a Digitial eGreeting?

I think the Wintersday events and festivities are the nicest Season's greetings to the mass of GW players. While it's cryptic how they chose the 1000 who got the card, even if it's just a random thousand people, I think it's a nice personal touch and gift from Anet. But I'm sure they somehow selected, so cheers for all the lucky/worthy ones

Nope, we signed and sent over a bunch to NCsoft Europe and they're kindly going to put the stamp on the envelope and send from there. Many will arrive after Christmas, but they're not Christmas cards, they're Wintersday or Holiday cards, so no worries.

That's kinda cool actually
It'd be nice to get one, but I'm sure there are others out there who have shown ANet far more "support" than me.

Whilst I have all the preorders (apart from all the shop-specific US ones; I only got the Censor's Icon ), all the CEs, a 2006 edition of Prophecies, 3 extra character slots and a standard edition of Prophecies too, I'm sure there are absolute GW loonies out there who have 2 of each CE, innumerable extra character slots, all the international editions and every last pre-order, as well as all of the PvP unlock packs.

That's assuming that ANet mean "support" in the financial sense of course...

Default Happy Holiday Cards from Anet

If there was a thread already started on this subject, I apologize as the search function isn't working at this time (I only get a message saying that this function is disable for some reason).

Anyway, I just want to add my thank you to Anet for the personal touch of sending a card. This is one of the reasons (aside from making not only one, but THREE outstanding RPGs), that Anet is a step above other game developers. I can say without a doubt, that this card (indeed personally signed) is one of the best surprises I have ever received.

Keep up the great work guys and gals, here's wishing your holiday is just as joyous, and the upcoming year brings even better Guild Wars fun!
